In "The Secret Life of France" by Lucy Wadham, a British woman who lived in France for decades, she says that the French habit of starting arguments includes an element of them thinking the person can handle it, and the argument will be enjoyable like a sparring match. This is of course alien to people from English speaking cultures!

Unfortunately when you're a foreigner these are usually lazy insults about your country. Great book that changed my life while I was living there.

A French woman once told me it was "important to be thin" in France, another thing that could not be said about English speaking cultures.

This is unbelievably low IQ and a common thing from the French, "A French woman once told me it was "important to be thin" in France, another thing that could not be said about English speaking cultures."

Like, what, in Australia and the US it is not important to be thin?
